In June 2026, a total of 67 spacecraft belonging to various countries were deorbited or burned up in the Earth's atmosphere, completing their missions. This means that an average of 2.23 satellites were deorbited per day.
The largest share was again attributed to SpaceX's Starlink satellites. Of the 67 devices deorbited, 36 were Starlink satellites. In addition, satellites belonging to China, the United States, Switzerland, South Korea, France, Finland, Taiwan, Argentina, Luxembourg, Mongolia and other countries also ended their operations.
In June, three Russian satellites - Rassvet-3-4, Stratosat TK-1-D and ArktikSat-1 - also burned up in the Earth's atmosphere and were deorbited.
At the same time, the Starlink satellite constellation continues to grow. In May alone, SpaceX sent 252 new Starlink satellites into orbit. As of July 5, 2026, there will be 10,759 Starlink satellites operating in Earth orbit.
