ChatGPT launches “Shared Projects” feature for teamwork

OpenAI has introduced a new “Shared Projects” feature for ChatGPT. This feature was announced in September 2025 and was initially tested only for business subscribers. It became available to all users on October 24.

Thanks to the new feature, several users can work on the same project with ChatGPT. This system works similarly to the “Access Permissions” feature in “Google Docs” — team members can join the project via an invitation link.

To create a project, the “New Project” section is selected in the ChatGPT mobile application. After setting the project name and storage, the “Share” button becomes active. The user can adjust the access permissions in two ways:

Only for those invited,

For anyone with the link.
Each project has its own storage — ChatGPT stores the data within that project, but does not have access to private conversations. Thus, confidential information is protected within the project.

The feature also has some limitations. Currently, it is not possible to work in parallel at the same time — participants can make changes to the project in turn.

The number of files that can be uploaded depends on the subscription type:

Free users – 5 files,
Plus subscribers – 25 files,
Pro subscribers – 40 files.
Projects are saved permanently, but projects that are sent to the “trash” are completely deleted within 30 days.

In the future, OpenAI plans to integrate the “Shared Projects” function with popular platforms such as Google Drive, Slack, Notion, and GitHub.
