Since the addition of the GPT-4-based image generation feature in March, interest in ChatGPT has surged even further. Nick Turley, Vice President of ChatGPT at OpenAI, announced that by the end of March, the app reached 500 million weekly active users—four times more than the previous year.
Turley noted that individuals and teams use ChatGPT daily to learn, create, and solve complex problems. He also expressed gratitude to the team supporting the app’s development and mentioned that an important week lies ahead for the company.
The new image generation feature has further boosted user engagement. Brad Lightcap, OpenAI’s Chief Operating Officer, revealed that in April alone, over 130 million users created more than 700 million images within just a few days.
According to a recent report by Sensor Tower, users spend an average of more than 12 days per month on the ChatGPT app. This metric places ChatGPT among the most frequently used apps, just behind Google and X (formerly Twitter).
These figures highlight the growing interest in AI technologies and demonstrate ChatGPT’s rapid growth and widespread adoption.
