Cisco acquires Israeli startup Astrix for $400 million

US technology giant Cisco has announced the acquisition of Israeli cybersecurity startup Astrix Security for approximately $400 million.

The company said Astrix’s technology will be integrated into a number of Cisco products, including Cisco Identity Intelligence, Duo, Secure Access and Splunk.

The acquisition comes at a time when companies are increasingly using artificial intelligence agents and automated systems. Such systems rely on “non-human identities” such as API keys and service accounts, and security in this area is becoming increasingly critical.

Astrix Security was founded in 2021 by Alon Jackson and Idan Gour. The company has raised a total of $85 million in investment so far. It raised $45 million in a Series B funding round in December 2024. This round was supported by investors such as Menlo Ventures, Workday Ventures, Bessemer Venture Partners, CRV and F2 Venture Capital.
