Connor Hayes appointed as new head of Threads platform

Meta has made a significant leadership change in the management of its text-based social media platform, Threads. Connor Hayes, Vice President of Product for Artificial Intelligence at Meta, has been appointed as the new head of Threads. With this appointment, Adam Mosseri, the longtime overseer of Threads and current head of Instagram, will hand over his responsibilities to Hayes.

This leadership change underscores Meta’s strategic commitment to Threads. Originally launched as a feature linked to Instagram, Threads has evolved over the past year into an independent social network, experiencing remarkable user growth. The platform is actively implementing continuous innovations and functional upgrades to strengthen its position, especially in competition with X (formerly Twitter).

Launched in 2023, Threads currently boasts 115 million daily active users and reaches 350 million monthly active users, reflecting a 127.8% increase compared to the previous year. According to data from Similarweb, Threads’ mobile app has seen impressive growth, while the platform is also working on strategies to increase the daily 6.9 million visits to its web version.

Connor Hayes’ appointment signals further advancements in Threads’ artificial intelligence capabilities and user experience. His expertise in AI is expected to enable Threads to become a more personalized, faster, and interactive social platform.

This move by Meta is viewed as a strategic step to strengthen Threads’ global presence and effectively compete with rivals like X.
