It has been revealed that "DeepSeek" had a database exposing users' personal information, such as chat histories and API keys, over the open internet. The database was found to be unprotected by a password, meaning anyone could access over a million unencrypted user chats and data. Cloud security company Wiz's researchers discovered the database and immediately alerted DeepSeek. According to reports, the exposed chats were primarily in Chinese and could be easily translated.
Although Wiz intervened and took the database offline, there has been no detailed information on the extent of the exposure. DeepSeek has not responded to inquiries regarding the incident.
