Americans have started reselling iPhones with TikTok installed
Some users have deleted the app and now can't install it back.
On January 19, 2025, TikTok disabled access to the service against the backdrop of the ban coming into force, and then restored it less than a day later. After that, US President Donald Trump signed an executive order to postpone the "ban" on TikTok for 75 days.
Along with this, the app disappeared from the American App Store and Google Play. And now users who thought that the blocking would last longer and deleted TikTok from their iPhones cannot get it back, write Wired, The New York Post and other media.
Again, ads for the sale of used iPhones with TikTok installed on them began to appear on eBay. In total, there are “thousands” of such ads on the platform, with prices ranging from $2,000 (196 thousand rubles at the Central Bank exchange rate on January 23) to $5,000 (491 thousand rubles), but there are also smartphones for $40 thousand (3.9 million rubles) and even for $1 million (98 million rubles). The New York Post notes that it is unlikely that anyone will buy a smartphone for $1 million, but some are quite willing to pay $5,000.
