Duolingo joins the trend: interest in Chinese is at a record high

The news that TikTok will be blocked in the US has increased interest in Duolingo

The news that TikTok will be blocked in the US on January 19 has prompted users to look for new alternatives. The attention of users has been drawn to RedNote, the Chinese analogue of TikTok. However, the problem is that RedNote's interface is not adapted to English. For this reason, Americans have begun to learn Chinese en masse.

The Duolingo application has taken advantage of this trend and has recorded a 216% increase in user activity in the US. Chinese users, in turn, are using Americans to complete tasks in English and are asking "newcomers" to pay a "tax" with an interesting request - to share photos of their pets.

Duolingo reacted to the situation with humor: "So, are you learning Mandarin NOW?", - wrote the official account of the platform on the X social network.

Currently, Duolingo has risen to 16th place in the list of the most popular free applications in the US AppStore.
