Google announces new advances in artificial intelligence with the introduction of Gemini 2.5 Flash-Lite, the fastest and most accessible model in the Gemini 2.5 family, now available as a preview. At the same time, the company has released stable versions of Gemini 2.5 Pro and the hybrid “reasoning” Gemini 2.5 Flash models.
The Gemini 2.5 Flash-Lite model outperforms its predecessor, 2.0 Flash-Lite, in math, programming, reasoning, and other tasks. It also demonstrates strong performance in latency-sensitive applications such as translation and classification.
The preview version of the new model is currently accessible on Google AI Studio and Vertex AI platforms. Stable versions of Gemini 2.5 Pro and the hybrid reasoning Gemini 2.5 Flash are also available on these platforms and in the Gemini app.
In terms of pricing, Gemini 2.5 Flash-Lite costs $0.10 per million input tokens (text, image, or video) and $0.50 for audio input tokens, with $0.40 per million output tokens. Unlike other Google models, the new reasoning feature is disabled by default.
According to official benchmarks provided by Google, the Gemini 2.5 family offers optimal choices for different tasks in terms of speed, performance, and cost-efficiency.
