In Azerbaijan, 71% of households and businesses are covered by high-speed internet services

In Azerbaijan, 2,077 thousand households and business entities were covered by high-speed internet services. The Minister of Digital Development and Transport Rashad Nabiyev shared information about this on his X account. He shared that "within the framework of the "Online Azerbaijan" project, 2,077 thousand households and business subjects in the country were covered with high-speed internet services. With this, 71% of the project has been implemented. As a result, the average speed of stable broadband Internet in Azerbaijan was 37.3 Mbit/s. "
The "Online Azerbaijan" project is being implemented in order to improve people's well-being by providing high-speed Internet access for the population and organizations in the most remote residential areas of the country, as well as providing innovative solutions that facilitate use.

The executors of the project based on the public-private partnership model are "Aztelekom" LLC, "Baku Telefon Rabitesi" LLC, "Azeronline LTD", "Smart Systems Technology" and "MegaLink" companies.
Although work on modern broadband solutions with GPON (Gigabit Passive Optical Networks) technology began in 2017, it is being implemented on a large scale, including regions, from 2021.
During the "Online Azerbaijan" project, the existing ADSL equipment is replaced with GPON equipment working with the modern IMS platform, the old copper main cable infrastructure is replaced with optical cables, and the optical distribution network is built.
