India has successfully launched the first rocket under its Gaganyaan manned space program.
This was announced by the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO). Initially, the rocket was scheduled to be launched at 8:00 a.m. local time, but the launch was delayed by half an hour.
ISRO declared the test launch a success. These tests of the command module, the protective case, the adapter for mounting the capsule on the jet carrier and the emergency crew rescue system are the most important step towards this goal. India is expected to independently send three astronauts into low Earth orbit next year.
