According to the press service of the National Information Technologies Joint Stock Company of Kazakhstan, users of the eGov Mobile mobile application can now check the security of their personal data through a new service called “Nomad Guard”.
The new service allows users to assess the security of both specific links and frequently visited websites. To do this, simply enter the link or address to the site in the appropriate field and click the “Check” button. The check results may take some time, and the result can be monitored in the “My Checks” section. The main page of the service provides information about the sites from which the user’s data was leaked and the volume of leaked data. When you click on the volume, a detailed list opens.
In addition, there is a separate section called “Fraud”. Here, users can report suspicious cases by filling out a special form.
Steps to use the service:
Log in to the eGov Mobile application and go to the “Other services” section
Select the “Check” button
Enter the password and click the “Submit” button
Track the result in the “My checks” section
In the “Additional” section, users can also access additional information such as “News”, “Trainings” and “Tests”.
According to the results of a recent online survey conducted in the application, 53% of users admitted that they did not know where to turn if their personal data was leaked to the Internet. 50 thousand people participated in the survey. Only 18% of users said that they knew what to do in such a situation. More than 62% of users said that they did not understand what phishing (fake) links are. Only one in five said that they could distinguish these types of links.
Other notable findings:
Although 92% of users said they did not give the codes received via SMS to “bank employees”, 8% still make this mistake
31% never change their passwords, and 51% do so only when there is a problem
More than half of users noted that they have encountered suspicious messages
These results show that although users often encounter online fraud, the level of digital literacy is still not sufficient. This once again proves the importance of launching services such as Nomad Guard.
It should be noted that recently, in cases of expiration, loss or change of personal data, it became possible to renew a driver’s license online in the eGov Mobile application. At the same time, a pilot project is planned to be developed in Kazakhstan for issuing identity cards online. A medical certificate of type 073/y for drivers can now be obtained through the application.
Currently, the number of users of the eGov Mobile application in Kazakhstan reaches 10 million.
