Kyrgyzstan, in collaboration with Binance, has introduced its national cryptocurrency, KGST. This new stablecoin is pegged 1:1 to the country’s national currency, the som, and operates on the BNB Chain. In addition, Kyrgyzstan has also launched a central bank digital currency (CBDC) called the “digital som.” Binance founder Changpeng Zhao (CZ) has been appointed as the country’s strategic advisor for digital assets.
These initiatives are positioning Kyrgyzstan as a leader in digital finance in Central Asia. The new national stablecoin will be used for both domestic and cross-border payments. The government is also implementing university programs in collaboration with Binance Academy to support education and research in blockchain technology.
Overall, these efforts aim to strengthen the country’s approach to digital assets and enhance its position in the global financial system.
