Mastercard appoints New CEO for Azerbaijan

Mastercard has made a significant leadership change for its operations in Turkey and Azerbaijan. Onur Faydacı, who has served as Deputy Chief Customer Officer since 2022, has been appointed CEO of Mastercard Turkey and Azerbaijan, effective October 1, 2025.

In his new role, Faydacı will oversee the overall management of Mastercard’s operations in both Turkey and Azerbaijan. His main priorities include implementing the company’s strategic objectives in these key markets and further strengthening its regional presence.

Avşar Gürdal, who has served as CEO of Mastercard Turkey and Azerbaijan since 2019, has been promoted. He will now serve as Senior Vice President of Strategy, Corporate Development & Mergers, and Analytics for the Eastern Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EEMEA) region. In this role, Gürdal will be responsible for developing regional strategies, evaluating investment opportunities, and managing analytics functions.

Faydacı brings nearly 20 years of experience in financial services. He began his career in 2006 at HSBC Bank Turkey, working in various roles in Corporate Banking and Credit Allocation. In 2012, he joined Merrill Lynch Investment Bank as Country Risk Manager, and from 2013 to 2018, he returned to HSBC Bank Turkey in senior positions within the investment banking division.

In 2018, Faydacı joined Mastercard Turkey’s Customer Experience Management team. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Boğaziçi University with high distinction and an MBA from Bahçeşehir University.
