OpenAI has introduced new Codex tools aimed at enterprise users. The company says Codex now has more than 5 million weekly active users, a more than six-fold increase since the desktop app launched in February. While software engineers remain the core user base, knowledge workers now make up about 20 percent of total users.
As part of the new update, OpenAI is introducing six dedicated plugins for data analytics, creative production, sales, product design, equity investing, and investment banking. These tools work together with integrations, guidance, and contextual information to help Codex better serve specific professional areas.
The company also introduced Sites, a feature that allows Codex to present work as interactive websites rather than just files. OpenAI is working with companies like Wix, Base44, Replit, Figma, and others to do this. A new Annotations feature lets you annotate specific parts of documents and files.
These innovations are considered part of OpenAI's strategy to more broadly integrate artificial intelligence solutions for enterprises.
