OpenAI has announced that it is testing SearchGPT, a still-prototype AI-powered search engine that will provide "quick answers with clear and relevant sources." The company released it to a small group of users and publishers to gather feedback.
The service works on GPT-4 and about 10 thousand users participate in the tests. The developer plans to integrate the best solutions into the ChatGPT chatbot in the future. Those who want to test the prototype can sign up for a waiting list.
In SearchGPT, users will be able to ask clarifying questions and see relevant links as if they were talking to a person. The company noted that sites can appear in SearchGPT results even if they opt out of generative AI training.
