OpenAI has created a tool that allows you to determine if an image is generated by the DALL-E 3 model. The tool is currently being tested within the company. According to OpenAI, the tool can identify generated images with up to 98% accuracy if they are not edited after creation. It recognizes cropped or edited images with less accuracy, but the company doesn't disclose specifics. To improve the system's effectiveness, OpenAI plans to make it available to "third-party researchers." In January 2023, OpenAI launched a tool to identify AI-generated texts, but shut it down in July due to poor performance. During tests, it identified texts written by artificial intelligence with 26% accuracy.
