OpenAI has suspended the presentation of the “io” project created with jony ive due to a court order

OpenAI has removed the presentation video showcasing the friendship between CEO Sam Altman and Apple’s renowned designer Jony Ive, as well as their jointly created new device startup called “io,” from its official website and YouTube channel. The video also included information about OpenAI’s $6.5 billion acquisition of the project.

This action does not mean that the deal has fallen through. Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman stated that the agreement is still in effect and there are no issues. The video was removed due to a court order related to the use of the “io” name.

According to reports, another company named iyO has filed a lawsuit against OpenAI. This company works on artificial intelligence technologies and has already registered the name “iyO,” which is similar to “io.” The court initially accepted the argument that OpenAI’s presentation video could cause confusion among users and ordered the company to take down the video.

OpenAI issued a statement regarding the matter:
“This page has been temporarily disabled due to a court order following a trademark complaint by iyO regarding the use of the name ‘io.’ We do not agree with this complaint and are reviewing our legal options.”

The company also emphasized that this legal process does not affect the agreement related to the “io” project.

Currently, the presentation video is available only on the X platform (formerly Twitter).
