OpenAI’s latest innovation in artificial intelligence, the GPT-5 model, will be available to iPhone users this fall through the iOS 26 update, according to a report by 9totMac.
The updated model will be integrated into Apple’s “Apple Intelligence” platform, but users will have the option to enable or disable this feature.
One of the main advantages of GPT-5 on iPhone is access to ChatGPT via Siri. Users will also be able to use ChatGPT alongside typing tools, as well as activate their iPhone cameras to get information about surrounding objects and locations.
With this new integration, Siri will be able to answer questions about photos and documents with the help of ChatGPT. ChatGPT will generate content based on text or image descriptions. Additionally, users will be able to use their smartphone’s camera function to get more information about places and items in their environment.
These features will also be available on iPad and MacBook devices with the iPadOS 26 and macOS Tahoe 26 updates, respectively.
Furthermore, all Apple devices will gain new features through iOS 26 and the “Apple Intelligence” platform. These include live translation of conversations in FaceTime, Phone, and Messages apps, as well as a system-wide visual intelligence tool that enables smart content search and interaction directly on the screen.
