OpenAI’s projected expenses through 2029 have risen to $115 billion. According to The Information, this figure is $80 billion higher than the company’s forecast in the first quarter of 2025. The company’s expected revenue for 2030 is projected to reach $200 billion.
The main reasons for the increased spending have been explained. For example, in 2025, OpenAI’s expenses are expected to rise by $1.5 billion, reaching $8 billion. In 2026, expenses are projected to double to $17 billion, which is $10 billion higher than the previous forecast.
The largest portion of this increase will be spent on training artificial intelligence (AI) models. Specifically, $9 billion is planned for 2025 and $19 billion for 2026.
To manage the rising costs, OpenAI is preparing to build its own chips and data centers. Recently, Financial Times reported that the company plans to begin $10 billion chip production in collaboration with Broadcom.
For revenues, the company expects a 15% increase, reaching $200 billion by 2030. OpenAI also aims to increase income from free ChatGPT users, though the exact methods for doing so have not yet been disclosed.
