Parents in Kazakhstan to be fined for students using phones in class

In Kazakhstan, some parents of students may be fined. The reason for this is the violation of the rules for using mobile phones during classes in schools.

Currently, the use of mobile phones during classes in Kazakhstan is officially prohibited. According to the law, students cannot use their phones during classes — neither texting, nor playing games, nor filming videos are allowed.

According to lawyers, teachers cannot confiscate students' phones, but they are obliged to inform the school administration and the police in case of a violation.

According to the legislation, the responsibility lies directly with the parents. If the child regularly violates the rules, administrative measures can be taken against the parents. A warning is issued for the first violation, and a fine of about 19,660 tenge (about 70 AZN) is imposed for a second violation.

Officials say that the ban is aimed at maintaining discipline in classes and improving the quality of teaching. Teachers recommend that parents explain the rules to their children in advance and determine in advance how to contact them in case of an emergency.
