Pentago is blocking employees' access to DeepSeek’s Chinese servers

According to DeepSeek’s terms of service, user data is stored on Chinese servers, and this data is governed by Chinese laws, which require collaboration with the country’s intelligence agencies.

However, employees of the U.S. Department of Defense connected to DeepSeek this week and used the service for at least two days. According to Bloomberg, the Pentagon has started blocking access to DeepSeek on some of its networks, but some employees are still able to access the service.

The U.S. government is discussing national security concerns regarding the growing interest in the Chinese-origin chatbot. DeepSeek has also become one of the most popular apps in the U.S. Apple and Play Store.

On January 24, the U.S. Navy banned its employees from accessing DeepSeek due to security and ethical reasons.
