Citizens of Kazakhstan will have wider access to artificial intelligence technologies - a one-year free subscription to the Perplexity Pro platform will be provided. This was reported by the Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development of Kazakhstan.
According to the ministry, a Memorandum of Understanding has been signed between Kazakhtelecom OJSC and Perplexity AI, Inc. The purpose of the document is to provide citizens of the country with the opportunity to freely use modern artificial intelligence tools for education, research and professional activities.
According to the ministry, the agreement also provides for the support of scientific research (R&D) projects on the Alem.AI database and the development of data centers in Kazakhstan.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development Jaslan Madiyev said:
“This agreement will provide millions of Kazakhstanis with access to powerful artificial intelligence technologies. We are creating a digital ecosystem where knowledge, innovation and technologies are close to every citizen.”
Jerry Ma, Vice President for Global Affairs and Deputy CTO of Perplexity AI, noted:
“Kazakhstan has correctly assessed the importance of combining advanced AI models with global knowledge. This cooperation will accelerate the integration of artificial intelligence into everyday life.”
The ministry added that the initiator and coordinator of the memorandum was Astana IT University. The university’s statement emphasized that this cooperation will promote the application of generative AI technologies in education and scientific research, as well as the expansion of international academic relations.
“Cooperation with Perplexity AI is an important step in terms of forming new digital skills for students and teachers and integrating into the global artificial intelligence ecosystem,” the university said in a statement.
