The President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has signed a new decision on the implementation of the Decree "On improving management in the field of digital development". According to the decision, the "Digital Development Concept in the Republic of Azerbaijan" was approved, which determines the strategic directions of digital development.
Coordination and control in digital development entrusted to the Cabinet of Ministers
According to the decision, control and coordination of the implementation of the measures envisaged in the Concept was entrusted to the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The Concept identifies the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport of the Republic of Azerbaijan as the main executive body in the field of digital development. The Ministry will play a key role in the implementation of digital development projects and the improvement of state information systems.
Pilot projects and evaluation of electronic services
The Cabinet of Ministers will prepare and submit proposals for the development of pilot projects to assess the effectiveness of digital solutions implemented by state agencies in a test mode and to determine the feasibility of electronic services at the initial stage. A report on the work done will be submitted to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan annually.
Data-driven decisions and artificial intelligence applications
The Ministry of Digital Development and Transport will play an important role in collecting and processing data. The Ministry will also work with state agencies to implement artificial intelligence solutions and make data-driven decisions.
Annual plans and information security measures
State agencies are instructed to prepare and approve annual plans to fulfill the tasks arising from the Concept. In addition, in order to strengthen information security, computers of state agencies will be provided with centralized antivirus protection systems.
The newly approved Concept will support the acceleration of digital transformation, the widespread application of information technologies and the development of e-government services.
