Sam Altman, the head of OpenAI and a Reddit shareholder, said that it has become increasingly difficult to distinguish whether posts on social networks are written by real people or by bots.
Altman came to this conclusion after reading numerous posts on Reddit’s r/Claudecode section praising OpenAI’s Codex service. According to him, even real users are increasingly writing in the style of artificial intelligence, which “makes everything look like bots.”
He added that the reaction-gathering mechanisms on social platforms, paid posts, and sometimes manipulation by rival companies have made the situation even more complicated.
Altman concluded:
“AI Twitter and AI Reddit now look much more fake than they did a year or two ago.”
