Telegram has rolled out its crypto wallet service to 87 million users in the United States. The new wallet, built on the TON blockchain technology, is fully integrated within the Telegram app. This integration allows users to easily manage, send, and receive digital currencies without leaving the Telegram platform.
The TON wallet was first launched internationally in 2023, but due to regulatory uncertainties, it was not available in the US until now. With those obstacles cleared, Telegram has now expanded the service to its large American user base.
According to Telegram, over 100 million users worldwide activated their TON wallets last year, representing about 10% of Telegram’s total 1 billion active users. The TON blockchain processes an average of 334,000 transactions per day, reflecting its growing popularity and usage.
This move demonstrates Telegram’s ambition to strengthen its position in the digital currency space and provide users with a simpler, safer, and faster way to carry out financial transactions. By enabling in-app crypto payments and transfers, Telegram hopes to increase everyday adoption of cryptocurrencies.
Telegram’s crypto wallet launch in the US is also seen as a significant step toward the future of digital payments, helping bring blockchain technology to a broader audience.
