The digital development of Azerbaijan is in the center of attention at the UN

The 80th session of the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) was held on April 22-26 in Bangkok, Thailand.
IRIA Deputy Chairman Rashad Khalikov spoke as a speaker on "Expansion of Digitalization: The Role of Innovation in the Implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals" at a parallel event held on April 22 within the framework of the Session. In his speech, the official of the agency spoke about Azerbaijan's contribution to the digital development in the region, emphasized the importance of cooperation with the countries of the region in digitization, and expressed confidence that cooperation with UNESCAP in this direction will lead to the discovery of new potential.

The next day - on April 23, R. Khalikov, who also participated in the plenary session of the main event, gave a speech on "Application of digital innovations for sustainable development in the Asia-Pacific region". He informed the participants of the event about the digital government building of Azerbaijan and said that the existing electronic government portal made more than 400 state services available to the citizens of the country at a high level. The official of the agency drew attention to the fact that the "digital.login" system is used by more than 100 public and private sector institutions and emphasized that it increases the effectiveness and efficiency of information transfer. "In Azerbaijan, we have achieved significant development in multifaceted digital solutions covering the social sphere, supply, justice, notary, education, food safety, taxes and other sectors. The created platforms take into account the special needs of every citizen, ensure transparency and sustainability," Rashad Khalikov informed the participants of the event.

Along with this, he also talked about Azerbaijan's projects, such as paperless document circulation, which both accelerate digitalization and contribute to environmental protection, and in this regard, he said that holding COP29 in Azerbaijan this year is a manifestation of our country's commitment to promoting a sustainable environment.

It should be noted that the annual session of the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific serves as a platform for regional cooperation, economic and social development. The digitization focus of the session aims to strengthen joint efforts by bringing together state representatives and other stakeholders from the countries of the region to achieve the UN's 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.
