The Innovation and Digital Development Agency (IDDA) continues its activities to develop the innovation ecosystem in the regions. On October 1, 2025, the opening ceremony of the Nakhchivan Innovation Center was held at the administrative building of Nakhchivan State University. The ceremony was attended by the university leadership, representatives of state institutions, as well as startup founders from Nakhchivan.
Welcoming the participants with an opening speech, Chairman of IDDA Farid Osmanov emphasized that the establishment of the Nakhchivan Innovation Center marks an important stage in the expansion of regional innovations:
“After Baku and Sumgait, the foundation of such a center in Nakhchivan is a significant event in terms of ensuring the accessibility of innovation infrastructure in this region. This center is not just an office space; here, startups will have the opportunity to participate in various development programs, receive mentorship support, meet with investors, and organize events. An innovation culture will be established and expanded here.”
In the welcoming session, Rector of Nakhchivan State University Elbrus Isayev and Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport Azer Mammadrahimov also delivered speeches. They highly appreciated the efforts of IDDA in ecosystem building in the regions and noted that the opening of the Nakhchivan Innovation Center would create new prospects for innovative young people from neighboring areas.
Later, Head of the Department for Work with Technoparks at IDDA, Elvin Hajiyev, provided detailed information about the Nakhchivan Innovation Center. He stated that the Center will host a Hardware and Software Laboratory enabling the development and testing of modern technological solutions, as well as a Technology and Engineering Laboratory to transform ideas into prototypes and practical projects. In addition, coworking and event spaces will be available to innovators, students, and anyone interested in innovation, fostering collaboration and joint activities.
At the conclusion of the event, Head of the Information Technologies Department of Nakhchivan State University, Huseyn Asgarli, delivered a detailed presentation on the university’s innovation ecosystem development activities.
