The "Strategy for the Development of the Digital Economy for 2026–2029", approved by President Ilham Aliyev today, has been approved. The main goals of the strategy are to expand the digital infrastructure and accelerate the transformation in the field of entrepreneurship in the country, improve the competitiveness of the economy, promote innovation-based development, strengthen digital skills, as well as increase the sustainability of digital economic activities. The strategy is based on the principles of forming a digital economy ecosystem, ensuring its sustainability, and widespread implementation of digital transformation in all economic sectors in the context of the rapid development of information technologies and key technologies of the 4th Industrial Revolution (artificial intelligence, big data, blockchain, cloud technologies, "smart city" solutions, etc.).
It is planned to increase the number of new startups in Azerbaijan to 250 by 2029. According to the document, the number of new startups should be 30 in 2026, 80 in 2027, and 155 in 2028.
