The U.S. has banned the use of "DeepSeek" in the country

The U.S. Department of Commerce has banned the use of products from DeepSeek, a China-based artificial intelligence company, on government devices. This decision was made in response to growing concerns about security and data protection related to DeepSeek's technology. The Department of Commerce stated that this measure was taken to ensure the security of the country’s information systems. The Department further announced that any application, desktop software, or website associated with DeepSeek is prohibited from being downloaded, viewed, or accessed.

It is still unclear whether the ban will be limited to the U.S. Department of Commerce or if it will extend to the entire U.S. government. However, this decision deepens the existing economic and technological tension between the U.S. and China. High-ranking U.S. officials and Congress members have repeatedly expressed concerns that DeepSeek's artificial intelligence technology poses serious threats to data security.

This debate is largely due to DeepSeek's rapid growth and high efficiency in the market. Competing with giants like OpenAI, DeepSeek has quickly gained popularity and amassed a large number of users. The company’s rapid rise has been viewed as a threat to the U.S.'s leadership in the field of artificial intelligence.

Several U.S. states, including Virginia, Texas, and New York, have banned the use of DeepSeek products on government devices. Additionally, a coalition of 21 state attorneys general has called on Congress to pass a nationwide ban on DeepSeek. These demands reflect growing concerns about DeepSeek's rapid development and its competition in the technology sector.

The rise of DeepSeek highlights the intense global competition in the artificial intelligence field and emphasizes the strategic importance of technological dominance. As the U.S. seeks to protect its national interests in the ongoing technological war with China, it closely monitors the development of companies like DeepSeek and others. This situation suggests that future technological competition will intensify, potentially shifting the global balance of power.
