The US is threatening Japan and the Netherlands with sanctions for chip supplies

The US administration has warned Japan and the Netherlands that Tokyo Electron and ASML may be sanctioned for supplying semiconductor manufacturing equipment to China. The United States is considering using the Foreign Direct Products Regulation (FDPR), which controls foreign products containing American technology.
The decision could significantly tighten export restrictions after the presidential election, becoming a major conflict in the trade war between the US and China. Given the current tax measures of more than 10% on imports from various countries, it is estimated that the new tariffs on Chinese goods could be 60% or higher.
The US has already raised or imposed tariffs on China's electric vehicles, semiconductors and lithium batteries, and plans to raise its tariff on semiconductors to 50% by 2025. According to Bloomberg sources, such measures help reduce imports and stimulate domestic production, but also lead to higher prices for American consumers and producers who depend on foreign resources.
