A number of Kazakh startups have reached a valuation of $100 million. This was reported by the Minister of Digital Development, Innovations and Aerospace Industry Jaslen Madiev during a government meeting.
"Our digital developments in the field of GovTech are reaching the international level. In 2023-2024, the volume of exports amounted to 1.36 billion tenge. Kazakhstan exports e-government solutions to countries such as Tajikistan, Togo, Sierra Leone. Among the main exported products are Smart Data Ukimet, Smart Bridge and GOV.KZ," he said.
Kazakhstan is the leader in the volume of venture deals concluded in the region. Last year alone, the volume of venture deals reached $80 million. Startups such as CITIX, Hero’s Journey, Higgsfield AI have attracted significant investments.
"Some of these startups have already reached a valuation of $100 million. These achievements show that Kazakhstan has become an important innovation center in the region. In accordance with the instructions of the head of state, work is underway to open the Artificial Intelligence Center in Astana," the minister added.
It is planned to train thousands of specialists in the field of artificial intelligence every year, implement hundreds of startups and dozens of research projects. This center will be a platform where the best world practices in the field of artificial intelligence development will be applied.
"We offer a comprehensive approach to teaching our people artificial intelligence technology. Within 5 years, we plan to train 1 million people, in particular 500 thousand pupils, 300 thousand students, 90 thousand civil servants, 80 thousand entrepreneurs and 30 thousand people in other categories. Currently, we are working on the implementation of educational projects to open the TUMO creative technologies center for schoolchildren," Madiev added.
In October 2024, the first artificial intelligence school TomorrowSchool was opened in the region. These initiatives aim to develop the country's human capital, identify talent, and support the development of the IT sector.
