OpenAI is preparing for a new investment round that could increase its valuation to $300 billion. This round is expected to raise up to $40 billion, according to sources close to OpenAI.
SoftBank will be one of the main investors in this round, with discussions underway for an investment of between $15 billion and $25 billion. The remaining funds will come from other investors.
Initially, SoftBank and OpenAI planned to value the company at $340 billion. However, in recent negotiations, this figure has been reduced to $300 billion. SoftBank is also playing an active role in attracting other investors. However, it is noted that the discussions are still subject to change and the deal could fall through.
This investment will be OpenAI's largest funding round to date and will be recorded as one of the largest investment rounds in Silicon Valley history. Last October, OpenAI was valued at $157 billion and raised $6.6 billion. The company’s value has doubled in just a few months, reflecting the rapid advancements in the field of artificial intelligence.
The new investment will be used to fulfill OpenAI's $18 billion financial commitment to its "Stargate" project. "Stargate" is a collaboration between OpenAI, SoftBank, and other partners aimed at financing the construction of new data centers in the U.S. to strengthen artificial intelligence technology.
