Meta has announced that it has fixed an "error" that caused an increase in violent and inappropriate content on Instagram. The company stated that this technical issue led to some users being shown posts that should not have been recommended.
Recently, some users on social media reported encountering sudden waves of violent and inappropriate content in Instagram’s "Reels" section. Even users with "Sensitive Content Control" set to the highest level were able to see such posts.
According to Meta’s policies, such content is prohibited and should be removed through automated systems. However, in some cases, content related to human rights violations or conflicts may be shared as informative material. This issue coincides with Meta's shift in content moderation policies. The company now plans to focus on severe policy violations (such as terrorism, child exploitation, drugs, etc.) and address minor violations based on user reports.
Meta’s decision is seen as an effort to promote more freedom of speech and improve relations with Donald Trump.
