There were 1.6 million attempts to connect to the network with copied IMEI codes

“AzInTelecom” LLC, one of the AZCON Holding companies, continues to combat the registration of mobile devices imported to Azerbaijan with fake IMEI codes.

As part of the measures taken, 77,614 copied IMEI codes have been given “clone” status and blocked to date. As a result of the investigation, it was found that 1,613,177 attempts have been made to connect to the network in the mobile communications space of Azerbaijan with copied IMEI codes to date. All attempts have been detected and blocked by the Mobile Device Registration System (MCQS) owned by “AzInTelecom”.

According to the “Regulations on the Registration of Mobile Devices” approved by the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers, in order for mobile devices imported to Azerbaijan from abroad to be used in the country's telecommunications network, their IMEI codes must be registered within 30 days. The registration process can be carried out online on the mygov portal or in person at post offices.

The fight against the registration of mobile devices with fake IMEI codes serves both to protect the rights of subscribers and to ensure transparency in the mobile communications market. “AzInTelecom” LLC recommends that citizens check the IMEI number indicated on the device box on the mygov portal before purchasing a mobile phone and give preference to trusted points of sale.
