Tripledot Studios announced today that it has acquired AppLovin’s portfolio of mobile game studios for approximately $800 million. The deal will be paid in cash and stock. Under the deal, AppLovin will become a minority shareholder in Tripledot Studios, while Tripledot Studios will expand its presence in key markets including the US and Asia.
As a result of the deal, Tripledot Studios will operate a total of 12 studios in 23 cities around the world, with over 2,500 employees. The expansion will bring the company to 25 million daily active users and approximately $2 billion in annual revenue. With this success, Tripledot Studios will become one of the world’s top 5 independent mobile game studios in terms of revenue and strengthen its position in the market.
Tripledot Studios was founded in London in 2017 by Lior Shiff, Akın Babayiğit and Eyal Chameides. The company raised $78 million in a Series A round in 2021, valuing it at $500 million. In 2022, it raised another $116 million, bringing its total investment to $252 million. Tripledot Studios, which currently has offices in London, Warsaw, Minsk, Barcelona, Jakarta, and Melbourne, will acquire 10 studios in 17 cities across North America, Europe, and Asia under the deal. Lion Studios - Hexa Sort, Wordle! and the maker of Found It
PeopleFun - the maker of Wordscapes, Wordscapes Solitaire and Bricks n Balls
Belka Games - the maker of Clockmaker and Train of Hope
Zenlife Games - the maker of Cooking Madness and Word Connect
Leyi - the maker of West Game and Mecha Fire
Magic Tavern - the maker of Project Makeover, Matchington Mansion and Modern Community
Athena Studio - the maker of Woody Block Puzzle and Woody 99
Clipwire Games - the maker of The Price is Right Bingo, Bingo Story and Monopoly Bingo
Zeroo Gravity - the maker of Cash Tornado, Jackpot Masters Slots and Carnival Tycoon
Machine Zone - the maker of Mobile Strike and Game of War
These popular games will also be added to Tripledot Studios' portfolio with the acquisition. The acquisition is expected to close in summer 2025.
