Uber's acquisition of Getiri approved with official permission

The Turkish Competition Authority on June 19 officially approved the acquisition of Getir, the delivery business of US company Uber, from Abu Dhabi’s sovereign wealth fund Mubadala.

The decision lifted legal hurdles in the deal, which was announced in February 2025.

Under the agreement, Uber will take control of all of Getir’s delivery operations in Turkey — food, grocery, retail and water delivery. The Turkish Competition Authority said Uber has committed to investing $500 million in the country. The investment is expected to contribute to the creation of high-quality jobs, strengthening local engineering capacity and developing the country’s digital technology infrastructure.

The sale comes after Getir began a restructuring process in 2024, exiting foreign markets. The company had previously spun off some non-core activities while preserving its core revenue-generating Turkish market.

Uber aims to expand its position in the Turkish market with this acquisition.
