Uber Acquires Majority of Trendyol Go Shares: Major Deal in Turkey’s Delivery Market
Uber, the American transportation technology giant, has acquired a majority stake in Trendyol Go, one of the Turkish fast-food delivery services. Although financial details of the deal were not disclosed, the deal is expected to close in the coming months, subject to regulatory approval.
Under the agreement, the Trendyol Go platform will continue to operate in its current form — serving customers, sellers, and couriers. In the next phase, Uber will begin offering advanced features of its global fast-food delivery service, Uber Eats, through Trendyol Go.
Currently, Trendyol Go serves 19,000 couriers and more than 90,000 grocery stores and restaurants across Turkey. This extensive network provides Uber with a favorable platform for rapid growth in the region.
Trendyol Group CEO Çağlayan Çetin described the deal as follows:
“As a company actively participating in the global e-commerce arena, we strive to provide our customers with a great shopping experience, support small businesses and manufacturers to grow their businesses, and contribute to the economic development of our country. We believe that Trendyol Go will continue to grow stronger with this new structure.”
Çetin also presented the deal as a testament to the strength of Turkey’s technology and e-commerce sectors, as well as its economy in general:
“As Trendyol, we will continue our investments in our country and will also evaluate new growth opportunities that may arise in the future.”
Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi described the partnership as a long-term commitment to the Turkish market:
“By combining Uber and Trendyol Go, we want to further develop the delivery sector in Turkey — this is important for customers, couriers, and especially small and family-owned restaurants and markets. We are very impressed with the successes achieved by the Trendyol Go team so far and are excited to continue this growth momentum across the country.”
This agreement is strategically important for Uber in terms of creating broader business opportunities not only in Turkey, but also in the region.
