Ukraine's state-owned railway operator, Ukrzaliznytsia, has announced that it has been hit by a large-scale cyberattack. The attack caused difficulties in online ticket sales, including through the mobile app. However, train operations continued without significant delays.
The company is working with cybersecurity experts and partners to restore both passenger and freight services. Customers are advised to go directly to the train if they face issues purchasing tickets.
Ukrzaliznytsia has previously faced various attacks on its railway infrastructure. For instance, in February, three Russian FSB agents were detained on suspicion of setting fire to relay cabinets controlling rail traffic. Additionally, in August, attacks on power stations in the northern region temporarily left parts of the railway network without electricity.
