Uzbekistan to launch government-owned artificial intelligence portal by end of year

Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has signed a decree to accelerate the development of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies in the country. According to the document, by 2026, at least 100 new AI initiatives will be implemented in public administration, the social sphere and the economy, as well as 15 AI laboratories will be created at universities.

According to the president’s instructions, a government-owned artificial intelligence portal — ai.gov.uz — will be launched by the end of this year. The portal will contain information about AI projects, startups and free online training programs.

In addition, it is aimed to attract more than $1 billion in foreign investment for artificial intelligence infrastructure by 2030.

Starting in 2026, a competition for the best AI projects will be held among state agencies, and an international startup competition called the “President AI Award” will be organized annually. The prize fund of the competition will be $1 million.

Mirziyoyev also instructed to create a national AI model for the Uzbek language and to consolidate all databases of state institutions into a single data center. Foreign experts estimate Uzbekistan's artificial intelligence potential at $10 billion.
