Canada has banned WeChat and TikTok for security reasons. The Treasury Board of Canada said WeChat poses a serious risk of data collection from mobile devices. Also, Kaspersky, a Russian antivirus program, was banned.
The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs criticized this ban and claimed that there was no concrete evidence. It advised Canadian citizens to choose apps with more transparent security rules. He made the recommendation because of concerns about the security of data, especially programs from China.
