WeTravel Raises $92M in Series C Funding, Tripling Valuation

WeTravel, a startup providing online payment and management solutions for travel and tour operators, has successfully closed its $92 million Series C funding round, tripling its valuation to nearly half a billion dollars.

The company’s mission is to make it easier for more people to explore the world. Today, thousands of tour operators use the platform to take millions of travelers to more than 190 countries. These include textile and whisky tours in Scotland, treks to Everest Base Camp, diving in the Galápagos Islands, and culinary trips across Europe.

The latest round was backed by Sapphire Ventures, Left Lane Capital, Base10 Partners, and Cross Creek. WeTravel plans to use the funds to improve its products and reduce costs for tour operators.

Founded with Azerbaijani Co-Founder’s Support
WeTravel was founded in 2014 by Johannes Koeppel (CEO), Azerbaijani-born Qerib Mehdiyev (CTO), and Zaki Prabowo (CMO). The platform provides a wide range of tools for travel organizers, from payment processing to logistics management.

Currently, more than 3,000 companies use WeTravel to process payments, manage bookings, and handle international money transfers, serving over 500,000 customers worldwide. The startup’s transaction volume has grown by 300% compared to pre-pandemic levels, while revenues have tripled.

Previously, WeTravel raised $7 million in funding. In 2022, the company secured $27 million in its Series B round led by Left Lane Capital, with participation from Base10 Partners and Swift Ventures. Those funds were primarily allocated to developing fintech products.
