Meta's subsidiary WhatsApp is set to launch a Discord-like voice chat feature.
A voice chat that has started will appear at the top of the messaging page, and participants in the chat will be able to continue messaging in the group. The group volume can be turned on and off from the call control section without leaving the voice chat.
The new feature can be used in group chats of 33 or more people. Voice chats, which will roll out globally in the coming weeks, are protected by WhatsApp with end-to-end encryption, just like text messages.
WhatsApp's new feature works similarly to Discord, Slack, and Telegram, allowing large groups to chat with ease.
