X has opposed the blocking of more than 700 accounts in Turkey

The platform announced in a post on its Global Government Affairs account in the evening that it has protested against the court decisions issued by the Turkish Information Technologies and Communications Authority (BTK) to block more than 700 accounts. The blocked accounts are reported to belong mainly to news agencies, journalists, political figures, and students operating in Turkey.

The platform emphasized that the Turkish government's decision is contrary to the law and deprives millions of Turkish users of access to news and political discussions in their own country.

The full text of the statement reads: "We protest against several court decisions issued by the Turkish Information Technologies and Communications Authority (BTK) to block more than 700 accounts belonging to news agencies, journalists, political figures, students, and other individuals in Turkey. Defending the right to freedom of expression for everyone on X is more important than anything else, and we believe that the Turkish government's decision not only violates the law but also deprives millions of Turkish users of access to news and political discussions in their own country. We eagerly look forward to defending these principles through the legal system. X will always defend freedom of expression in all the countries it operates in."
