xAI has filed a lawsuit against OpenAI. According to xAI’s main claim, OpenAI targeted the company’s former employees, hiring them to gain unauthorized access to personal information about Grok. The company alleges that OpenAI attempted to acquire its strategic advantages, including source code, data center operations, and business plans.
This issue came to light particularly during the investigation of former engineer Xuechen Li. xAI claims that Li transferred the company’s confidential information to OpenAI, the developer of ChatGPT. Engineer Li has not yet commented on these allegations.
The complaint also notes that, in addition to Li, OpenAI hired another former xAI engineer, Jimmy Fraiture, as well as an unnamed senior finance executive.
xAI has also filed a separate claim against Apple. The company alleges that Apple’s collaboration with OpenAI is aimed at preventing rival AI platforms from growing in the market. Apple has not yet commented on these allegations.
