Adobe has announced that it has integrated Firefly, a generative artificial intelligence, into Photoshop, Illustrator, and Express for users. The company has also introduced an independent web application called Firefly, available to Creative Cloud subscribers.
Paid users of Adobe products will receive a limited number of credits depending on their subscription plans. For example, Photoshop, Illustrator, or Premier Pro subscribers will receive 500 credits per month, while users with subscriptions to all Creative Cloud programs can get 1000 credits per month. Free users with an Adobe ID can use 25 credits per month.
Once credits are exhausted, access to Firefly will not be lost, but it will operate at a slower pace. Subscribers to the web version of the service and Express Premium will receive a total of only two credits per day until the end of the month.
Metadata will determine that all created content was generated by artificial intelligence. The company also plans to reward authors who allow their works to be used to train Firefly. Adobe explained that the amount of compensation will depend on the quantity of data provided, without providing further details.
In May 2023, Adobe added Firefly AI service features to the beta version of Photoshop, allowing users to add new objects, delete existing ones more accurately, and create backgrounds based on existing imagery with its assistance.
