Alphabet plans to acquire the U.S.-based company Intersect Power in order to meet the growing energy needs of artificial intelligence data centers. The total value of the deal is $4.75 billion, and it is expected to be completed in the first half of 2026.
Under this agreement, Alphabet will add all of Intersect Power’s energy and data center projects that are currently under development or construction to its portfolio. However, the company’s existing facilities operating in Texas and California will remain outside the acquisition and continue to operate independently.
With this move, Alphabet aims to supply its rapidly expanding AI services with sustainable energy and to increase data center capacity. Company executives state that managing energy production in parallel with data center demand is essential for maintaining competitive advantage.
