Amazon and Anthropic sign $100 billion deal for artificial intelligence

Tech giants Amazon and Anthropic have announced a significant expansion of their partnership in the field of artificial intelligence. Under the agreement, Anthropic will invest more than $100 billion in technologies on Amazon's cloud platform AWS over the next 10 years.

The company will also acquire 5 gigawatts of computing resources to use current and future generations of Trainium, Amazon's custom artificial intelligence chips. These resources will be used to develop and run advanced AI models. At the same time, millions of Graviton processor cores will be used.

Amazon will invest $5 billion in Anthropic in the initial stage as part of this partnership and plans to increase this amount to an additional $20 billion in the future. It should be noted that the company has previously invested $8 billion in Anthropic.

The parties have been working together since 2023 to accelerate the implementation of generative artificial intelligence. Currently, more than 100,000 customers use Anthropic's Claude models on AWS. These models have become one of the most popular solutions on the Amazon Bedrock platform.

The collaboration, called Project Rainier, is considered one of the largest AI computing clusters in the world. The project will enable the development of large-scale AI models using hundreds of thousands of chips.

The new agreement also includes expanding services to the European and Asian markets. This step will allow Anthropic to more effectively serve its international customer base.

The parties say that this strategic partnership will play a significant role in terms of innovation, responsible AI development, and the expansion of technological solutions on a global scale.
