Historic change at Apple: Tim Cook steps down

Apple, one of the world's most valuable technology companies, has announced a major leadership change. Tim Cook, who has led the company since 2011, will step down as CEO on September 1, 2026. He will be replaced by John Ternus, currently Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering.

According to the company's statement, Tim Cook will continue as chairman of the board and will work closely with John Ternus during the transition period. He will also continue to support the company in areas such as global public policy.

During Tim Cook's 15 years at the helm, Apple has made great strides. The company's market value has grown from $350 billion to $4 trillion, and its annual revenue has reached $416 billion. During this time, new product categories such as the Apple Watch and Apple Vision Pro have been created, and significant achievements have been made in the field of services and wearable technologies. In addition, the company's transition to its own processor architecture and environmental sustainability strategies are also among the main steps of the Cook era.

The new CEO, John Ternus, has been with Apple since 2001 and has been a member of the executive team since 2021. He has led the engineering processes of major product lines such as iPhone, iPad and Mac. In recent years, he has been at the forefront of projects such as the MacBook Neo and the iPhone 17 series. In his new role, Ternus is expected to shape Apple's future strategic direction.

There will also be another management change at the company. Arthur Levinson, who has been the chairman of the board for many years, will hand over this position to Tim Cook and assume the role of independent chief executive officer.

These changes are reportedly implemented as part of Apple's long-term development strategy and serve to maintain management stability in the company.
