Apple has unveiled an updated Mac mini. This is the company's first device with an Apple M4 Pro chip.
The Mac mini (M4), as expected, received the largest redesign in recent years. The appearance of the computer now resembles Mac Studio, but the case size is almost like that of an Apple TV 4K. The dimensions were 5 by 5 inches (12.7 by 12.7 cm), the thickness was only 5 cm.
Like the new iMac M4, the novelty runs on an Apple M4 processor and received 16 GB of combined memory in the database, the minimum storage capacity remained 256 GB.
The novelty also has a version with the M4 Pro chip. It received 12 processor cores (8 productive and 4 energy efficient) and 14-core graphics. There is also a version with 14 CPU cores and 20 GPU cores, it costs $200 more.
Apple claims that the graphics in the M4 Pro are twice as powerful as in the M4. In the basic configuration, the Mac mini M4 Pro comes with 24 GB of combined memory with a bandwidth of 273 GB/s and 512 GB of storage.
The Mac mini on the M4 and M4 Pro also differs in Thunderbolt ports: the younger version has ports of the fourth version, and the older version has Thunderbolt 5, whose speed reaches 120 GB/s. Apple also claims that the new Mac mini is the first Mac with zero carbon emissions.
The Mac mini on the M4 in the basic configuration is priced at $599, and on the M4 Pro — at $1,399.
